What Are PB Serum Fat Dissolving Injections?

PB Serum is an injectable product containing enzymes made with biotechnological methods, developed by the Spanish company Proteos Biotech; “PB” comes from the maker’s name. Among fat dissolving injections, it is an enzyme-based option used mainly for a double chin and small areas of stubborn fat that remain despite diet and exercise. For all double chin options, see our double chin treatment page.

The method is also called “enzymatic lipolysis.” The product contains three key enzymes:

  • Lipase: Helps break down triglycerides in fat cells and targets local slimming.
  • Collagenase: Targets damaged collagen fibers, which is why it is also used for cellulite and scars.
  • Lyase: Helps reduce excess fluid and swelling in the tissue.

PB Serum may be an option for people who don’t want surgery and want to reshape a specific area. It is not a weight-loss method: it aims at local contouring, not losing weight.

Unlike liposuction, which removes fat directly, PB Serum aims for fat tissue to reduce gradually, so results appear step by step and vary from person to person. With significant excess weight, weight control or other methods are considered first.

What Are the Types of PB Serum?

PB Serum comes in three forms with different enzyme strengths. The doctor chooses the form based on the area and the concern:

  • PB Serum Low: The lower-strength form, mostly used to reduce puffiness in under-eye bags and support skin firmness.
  • PB Serum Medium: The form with a stronger fat-reducing effect, used for local fat on the chin, abdomen, waist, arms and inner thighs.
  • PB Serum High: Mostly considered for cellulite, hardened tissue and scars.

Different forms may be used on different areas in one session, for example Medium under the chin and Low under the eyes. For another injection method used on larger body areas, see mesolipolysis.

How Are Fat Dissolving Injections With PB Serum Done?

Before treatment, the fat and skin in the target area are assessed at your consultation. For a few days beforehand, stopping medicines and supplements that can increase bleeding, such as aspirin, omega-3 and vitamin E (after checking with your doctor), may help reduce bruising. Tell your doctor about any medications and chronic conditions.

  1. Preparation: The powdered product is mixed with its own solution at the time of treatment, and the area is disinfected.
  2. Injection: PB Serum is injected into the target layer with very fine needles or a cannula; deeper into fat tissue, more superficially into the skin.
  3. Massage: If needed, the area is gently massaged to help the product spread.

The treatment usually takes 20–40 minutes, depending on the size of the area, and most people return to their day afterward. As mild swelling may appear for a few days on facial areas such as the chin and under the eyes, plan treatment well ahead of an important event.

The right layer and dose affect both result and safety, so it should be done by a doctor who knows the anatomy well.

What Areas Can PB Serum Treat? Double Chin and More

PB Serum can be used on the face and body for different purposes:

  • Double chin: It may help reduce fat under the chin and make the jawline look more defined.
  • Under-eye bags: The Low form may be chosen for bags caused by puffiness. See dark circles and under-eye bag treatment.
  • Body: It can be used for stubborn fat on the abdomen, waist, arms and inner thighs. If there is a noticeable difference between the two sides, the plan can follow a body asymmetry correction approach.
  • Cellulite and scars: It may support the treatment of cellulite and some scar types. See cellulite treatment.

If the chin concern is due to sagging or bone structure rather than fat, other methods such as chin and jawline filler may suit you better. The method is decided at your consultation in our Nişantaşı clinic.

How Many Sessions Are Needed and How Long Do Results Last?

The number of sessions depends on the area and the amount of fat. For a double chin, 2–3 sessions are usually planned; body areas may need more. After each session, the response is assessed to decide the dose and timing of the next one.

Results vary from person to person and usually show gradually as sessions progress. Fat reduced in the treated area usually stays reduced for a long time as long as your weight is stable, but weight gain can lead to new fat build-up there. A balanced diet and regular activity help maintain the result, and since age-related skin laxity continues, maintenance sessions may be recommended.

The main factors that affect results are:

  • Amount of fat: More fat may need more sessions.
  • Skin elasticity: Skin with reduced elasticity may look looser after slimming.
  • Lifestyle: Diet, activity and weight changes affect how well the result is maintained.

Frequently Asked Questions

Popular Questions

When does PB Serum start working?

Some people notice the first changes within a few weeks as swelling goes down. Fat reduction progresses gradually and is assessed more clearly after the sessions are complete, at a follow-up visit.

Warmth, tenderness, swelling and small bruises may appear at the injection site for 1–2 days and usually settle on their own. Allergic reactions are rare. Injecting into the wrong layer may mean the expected effect isn’t achieved, so it should be done by a doctor.

Because very fine needles are used, most people feel only a light prick. The area may feel slightly sore for a few days afterward.

For the first 24 hours, avoid very hot water on the area and heavy exercise, and stay away from saunas and Turkish baths for the first few days. Drinking plenty of water and following your doctor’s advice support recovery.

It is not done during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in active liver or kidney disease, or in uncontrolled autoimmune disease. It is postponed if there is an infection or open wound on the area. Tell your doctor if you have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners.
