What Is Hollywood Botox?

Hollywood Botox, widely known as baby botox, is a technique in which botulinum toxin is given in low doses across many small injection points. Instead of stopping the facial muscles completely, it only eases the excessive contraction that causes wrinkles. Your expressions stay natural, fine lines soften, and the face looks more rested.

You may also see it called micro botox; the name Hollywood Botox comes from its popularity among actors. The active ingredient is the same as in regular botox; the difference lies in how the dose and injection points are planned.

It is often chosen as a preventive treatment when lines are just starting to appear, and by people who want to look refreshed rather than “done.” Age alone is not the deciding factor. It can be done on its own or as part of a whole-face plan, in line with the Facial Architecture (Yüz Mimarisi®) approach of Dr. Sevgi Ekiyor.

Baby Botox vs. Regular Botox: What Is the Difference?

Both use the same active ingredient; what changes is how the dose is distributed. Regular botox aims to relax a specific muscle strongly so the line in that area is largely smoothed out. This works well for deep forehead and frown lines, but when the dose is high, the forehead can look stiff.

With Hollywood Botox, the total dose is split into smaller amounts and placed more superficially at more points. The muscle keeps working; only the strength of the contraction is reduced. You can still raise your eyebrows and smile, while the lines look noticeably softer.

  • Regular botox: higher dose, fewer injection points, stronger muscle relaxation.
  • Baby botox: low dose, many points, a natural result that keeps your expressions.

Which technique suits you is decided at your consultation; for deeper lines, the two may be combined in different areas.

How Is Hollywood Botox Done?

The appointment starts with an examination and facial analysis. You are asked to raise your brows, frown and smile so the doctor can see how strongly each muscle works and where the lines concentrate. The injection points are chosen based on this analysis.

Stopping blood-thinning medicines and supplements such as aspirin, high-dose omega-3 and vitamin E for a few days beforehand, after checking with your doctor, helps reduce bruising. Avoiding alcohol the day before is also recommended.

  1. The skin is cleansed, and a numbing cream is applied if needed.
  2. Low doses of botulinum toxin are injected at the planned points with very fine needles.
  3. The area is checked. Mild redness and small bumps usually fade within 15–30 minutes.

The treatment takes about 15–20 minutes, and you can return to your day straight away. The effect begins within 3–5 days and becomes clear in about two weeks, when a follow-up appointment allows small touch-ups for symmetry if needed. Licensed products and a doctor who knows facial anatomy well are key to a safe, natural-looking result.

What Areas Can Micro Botox Treat?

Hollywood Botox is most often used for expression lines in the upper face:

  • Forehead lines: horizontal lines that appear when you raise your brows.
  • Frown lines: vertical lines between the brows.
  • Crow’s feet: fine lines at the corners of the eyes when you smile.
  • Brow lift: gently raising the tail of the brow to open up the eyes.

In the lower face, very small doses may be used for a gummy smile or a dimpled “orange peel” chin. Precise dosing matters even more here, because a small excess can affect your smile.

The micro-dose approach can also help fine lines on the neck and chest; see our face and neck botox page. Teeth grinding or jaw slimming requires a different dose and technique, planned separately as masseter botox.

Botox softens lines caused by muscle movement but does not restore lost volume. For hollow cheeks or deep smile lines, facial filler is usually the better option. To improve hydration and glow, Hollywood Botox can be planned alongside treatments such as mesolifting.

How Long Does Hollywood Botox Last?

Hollywood Botox is temporary. The body gradually breaks down botulinum toxin and the muscle regains its strength. The effect usually lasts 3–4 months; because the dose is low, it may wear off a little sooner than regular botox.

Factors that affect duration:

  • Muscle strength: the effect may fade sooner in very expressive faces.
  • Metabolism: a fast metabolism can shorten the effect.
  • Lifestyle: smoking, strong sun exposure and frequent sauna use may shorten it.

When repeated regularly two to three times a year, the muscles get used to contracting less and new lines form more slowly. When it fades, your face simply returns to how it was before; pausing treatment does not make wrinkles worse.

Popular Questions

How long does baby botox take to work?

The effect usually starts on day 3–5 and settles fully within 10–14 days. That is why the follow-up appointment to assess the result and make any small adjustment is planned around the second week.

When done by a doctor with a licensed product at the right dose, it is considered a safe treatment. The most common side effects are mild bruising at injection points, a short-lived headache and temporary slight asymmetry. A drooping eyelid is rare and temporary.

Don’t lie down or massage the area for the first 4 hours. Avoid intense exercise, alcohol, saunas and Turkish baths for 24–48 hours. You can wear makeup after 6–12 hours.

No. Baby botox is a non-surgical injection treatment: there is no incision, very fine needles are used, and the appointment takes about 15–20 minutes. You can return to your day straight away, and the effect is temporary, gradually wearing off over a few months.

It is not done during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as there is not enough safety data. It is also not recommended for people with neuromuscular conditions such as myasthenia gravis or an active infection in the treatment area.
