What Is HarmonyCA Filler?

HarmonyCA is a hybrid filler that combines two ingredients in one syringe: hyaluronic acid (HA) and calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). It is sometimes searched for as “Harmonica filler.”

As we age, the skin loses more than volume and moisture. The collagen and elastin fibers that support it also decline, which can blur the facial oval, cause mild sagging and give a tired expression. HarmonyCA was developed to address both problems at once.

  • Hyaluronic acid: This water-binding molecule gives immediate hydration, fullness and a subtle lifting effect.
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite: It stimulates fibroblast cells beneath the skin, supporting new collagen production over time.

For this reason, HarmonyCA is described not just as a filler but also as a biostimulator that helps strengthen the skin’s own support tissue. While classic facial fillers mainly target volume loss, HarmonyCA focuses on firmness and tissue quality. Its main purpose is to support rather than add volume, so when planned well, the aim is a fresher look without changing your features or looking overfilled.

What Areas Can HarmonyCA Treat?

HarmonyCA is used to support and tighten soft tissue rather than to add volume. It is most often applied to the sides of the face, in front of the ears and along the jawline, the areas that hold up the facial oval and are among the first to loosen with age.

Good candidates usually include people with:

  • Early laxity of the facial oval: A jawline that has lost definition and mild sagging.
  • Mild to moderate mid-face volume loss: Cheeks that need some support.
  • Reduced skin elasticity: A wish for firmer, fuller-feeling skin.
  • A preference for subtle results: Looking fresher without obvious added volume.

If the aim is to bring the chin forward or create a sharp jaw contour, jawline filler may be more suitable. Which product goes where is decided at your consultation after assessing the whole face. If the goal is contour and collagen support without hydration, Radiesse filler may suit you; for a gradual build-up of volume, see Sculptra.

When skin sagging is marked, HarmonyCA alone may not be enough. It can then be combined with other non-surgical lifting methods, such as thread lifting, depending on the degree of sagging and skin quality.

How Is HarmonyCA Done?

A facial analysis first identifies where volume loss and laxity are concentrated, and injection points are planned.

  1. The area is cleansed and an anesthetic cream is applied for about 15–20 minutes.
  2. HarmonyCA is usually placed under the skin with a fine, blunt-tipped cannula, which helps reduce bruising and swelling and spread the product evenly.
  3. The product is distributed across the sides of the face, in front of the ears and along the jawline to support the tissue.
  4. Both sides are compared at the end and symmetry is checked.

The syringe contains a local anesthetic (lidocaine), so treatment is usually well tolerated. It takes around 20–30 minutes, and most people return to their daily routine the same day.

Stopping blood-thinning medicines and supplements for a few days beforehand, after checking with your doctor, lowers the risk of bruising. Treatment should be done with a licensed product by a doctor who knows facial anatomy well.

HarmonyCA Aftercare and Side Effects

To help the product settle in the first days:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise and makeup for 24 hours.
  • Do not wash your face with very hot water on the first day.
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms and sunbeds for a few days.
  • Wait for the time your doctor recommends before facial massage or skin care treatments.

Mild redness, swelling and tenderness in the treated area are expected. Small bruises may appear on sensitive skin despite the cannula. These effects usually ease within 24–48 hours.

Rarely, infection, asymmetry or small lumps (nodules) from product placed in the wrong layer can occur. Sterile conditions and treatment by a doctor help reduce these risks. If you notice unexpected pain, redness or discoloration, let your doctor know.

How Long Does HarmonyCA Last?

HarmonyCA is not a lasting filler; its components are gradually absorbed by the body. Its effect develops in two stages:

  • Stage one: Hyaluronic acid gives an immediate lift and hydration.
  • Stage two: Collagen production supported by calcium hydroxylapatite improves firmness and tissue quality over the following months.

Depending on your age, skin type, metabolism and lifestyle, results usually last around 12–18 months. Collagen-related improvement in the tissue may continue for a while after that. When to repeat treatment is decided at a follow-up based on your skin.

Your habits also help the result last longer:

  • Sun protection: Sunlight speeds up collagen breakdown, so daily sunscreen matters.
  • Not smoking: Smoking harms skin nourishment and collagen production.
  • Stable weight: Rapid weight changes can affect facial fat and support tissue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Popular Questions

When will I see HarmonyCA results?

The lifting effect is noticeable straight away. Improvements in firmness and tissue quality from new collagen usually become visible within 2–4 months, so the result is judged on skin quality a few months later rather than in the first weeks.

No. It is not used in areas with thin skin or a lot of movement, such as under the eyes, the lips or the forehead. Area-specific hyaluronic acid fillers such as under-eye filler are preferred there.

The hyaluronic acid component can be dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase. The calcium hydroxylapatite particles cannot be dissolved and are absorbed by the body over time, which is why the dose and treatment area are planned carefully.

Like any injectable, HarmonyCA carries some risk, so how it is done matters. It should be performed with a licensed product, in sterile conditions, by a doctor who knows facial anatomy well. Most side effects are mild and temporary, and whether it suits you is decided at your consultation.

It is not used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with an active infection, open wound or cold sore in the area. It is also not recommended for people allergic to its ingredients or to local anesthetics, people with autoimmune disease or on immunosuppressive treatment, or those prone to keloid scarring.
