What Is Neck, Décolleté and Hand Rejuvenation?

Signs of aging do not show on the face alone. Over time, the skin of the neck, chest and hands also becomes thinner, loses moisture and develops lines. Neck rejuvenation, décolleté treatments and hand rejuvenation are the umbrella terms for non-surgical treatments that address lines, sagging, dullness and spots in these areas.

Because skincare often stops at the jawline, an age gap between the face and these areas can become noticeable. The main goal of our anti-aging approach at the clinic in Nişantaşı, Istanbul, is for the face, neck and hands to look in harmony with each other.

For some people, changes on the neck and chest start early. A double chin, horizontal neck lines and chest wrinkles caused by sleep or sun are the most common concerns.

Every face and anatomy is different, so the same treatment will not give everyone the same result. Rather than a single procedure, treatment is planned around your structure, concern and expectations, and several methods are often combined across different sessions. Which ones suit you is decided at your consultation.

What Causes Neck Lines and Décolleté Wrinkles?

The skin of the neck and chest is thinner than facial skin and has fewer oil glands, so moisture loss and declining collagen show up here earlier. The main causes are:

  • Sun damage: These are the areas people most often forget to protect with sunscreen, which speeds up spots and lines.
  • Posture and expression: Looking down at a phone or screen for long periods may make horizontal neck lines more visible.
  • Neck bands: Vertical bands formed by the neck muscle become more prominent with age.
  • Sleep position: Sleeping on your side can cause vertical wrinkles on the chest.

A double chin is not always about weight. Fat can collect locally under the chin, just as it does on the abdomen. If the bone structure and jawline offer weak support, a double chin can appear even at a healthy weight.

How Is Neck Rejuvenation Done?

Treatment starts with an examination that looks at the face as a whole. If you are bothered by a double chin, the jawline is assessed first, because strengthening it may noticeably reduce the look of the double chin. One or more of the following methods are then planned:

  • Neck Botox: Low-dose Botox in the neck bands helps the neck look smoother and tighter. See face and neck Botox for details.
  • Mesotherapy: A personalized cocktail is injected into neck and chest lines with very fine needles. Its content depends on skin thickness, age and how deep the lines are.
  • Skin boosters: Injections containing hyaluronic acid, vitamins and amino acids support hydration and elasticity. NCTF 135 (Paris Işıltısı) can also be used in these areas.
  • Laser: Depending on the concern, laser may support the treatment; winter months, when the sun is weaker, are more suitable.
  • Thread lift: If sagging of the neck or under the chin is marked, French Lifting may help lift the area and support collagen production.

For deep, set-in neck lines, filler may also be considered; see neck, décolleté and hand fillers.

How Does Hand Rejuvenation Work?

The hands are among the areas most exposed to sun and the environment. Over time, the skin on the back of the hand thins, and veins and tendons become more visible. Sun spots and dryness also reveal age.

Hand rejuvenation aims to improve skin quality and lighten spots. The most common options are:

  • Mesotherapy and skin boosters: Help restore moisture and vitality to the thin skin on the back of the hand.
  • Spot treatments: Methods suited to your skin are planned for sun-related spots. See skin spot treatments.
  • Daily protection: Regular sunscreen and moisturizer on the hands help maintain results.

If there is clear volume loss in the hands, filler may be included in the same plan. Hand treatments are often scheduled alongside neck and chest treatments, so the freshness achieved on the face matches the other exposed areas.

Aftercare: How Many Sessions and How Long Do Results Last?

The number of sessions depends on the method. Botox is usually a single session, and its effect lasts a few months. Mesotherapy and skin boosters are mostly planned as a course a few weeks apart. For laser, the number of sessions depends on your skin.

After treatment, the following is recommended:

  • First 24 hours: No makeup on the treated area; avoid massage and hot showers.
  • A few days: Stay away from saunas, Turkish baths and intense exercise.
  • Sun protection: Apply sunscreen to the neck, chest and hands every day.

How long results last varies from person to person, depending on age, skin type, sun protection and lifestyle. Supporting nutrition and digestion also contributes to overall skin health; when needed, blood tests can assess food intolerances and deficiencies to build a personalized nutrition and supplement plan.

The jawline and facial structure are assessed first. Localized fat reduction treatments may be planned for fat buildup, thread lifts for sagging, and treatments that support the jawline if it is weak. The right method is decided at your examination.

They are done with very fine needles, and a numbing cream is applied beforehand when needed. Most people feel only a slight pinprick.
