What Is Facial Architecture (Yüz Mimarisi®)?

Facial Architecture (Yüz Mimarisi®) is the trademarked treatment approach Dr. Sevgi Ekiyor uses in her medical aesthetics practice in Nişantaşı, Istanbul. Its aim is not to correct a single line or a single area, but to assess the proportions and symmetry of the face as a whole and bring it closer to its own ideal balance, or facial harmony.

Dr. Ekiyor often compares the face to a house. The bones act as the columns, the skin covers the structure like walls, and the soft tissues sit in between. Aging, weight changes, sleeping position and environment change these layers at different speeds, so bone support, soft tissue and skin quality should be considered together in every facial treatment.

Which area is treated, in what order and how much, is based on careful analysis and calculation. The goal is a dynamic, natural look that sits close to the golden ratio while keeping the person’s own expression.

How Is the Face Analyzed for Facial Harmony?

Treatment starts with a detailed facial analysis. The face is divided into zones, and each is examined from the front, from the side and in motion, looking not only at wrinkles but at the direction in which the face is aging.

The main points assessed are:

  • Proportions: The balance between the length and width of the face, the height of the cheekbones and the position of the nose relative to the rest of the face.
  • Symmetry: Differences between the right and left sides. For example, the cheek you usually sleep on is often flatter and sits lower.
  • Volume loss: Hollowing under the eyes and in the cheeks, temples and corners of the mouth.
  • Skin quality: Elasticity, hydration, pigmentation and fine lines.
  • Female and male facial features: A misjudged treatment, especially on the side profile or the jawline, can give the face an unintentionally feminine or masculine look.

Based on this analysis, a personal treatment plan and treatment order are decided.

What Concerns Can Facial Architecture Address?

Age-related changes are usually concentrated in the midface. Hollowing under the eyes and over the cheekbones, deepening smile lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth, emptying of the marionette area and a sagging jowl are common concerns here.

The most frequent step in Facial Architecture is lifting the midface. Supportive treatment over the cheekbones gently draws the face upward and outward, so it looks firmer while the smile lines and mouth corners soften indirectly. A more natural result can often be achieved with less product, without filling every line separately.

Facial Architecture is also the basis for planning in cases such as:

  • Hollowing and sagging after weight loss or weight gain
  • Facial asymmetry
  • A jawline that has lost definition, or a square lower face
  • A tired, sad or harsh facial expression

Which Treatments Are Used in Facial Architecture?

Facial Architecture is not a single procedure but the planning of the treatments chosen after the analysis, in the right order. Common options include:

  • Fillers: To lift the midface and strengthen bone support, fillers placed over the bone in areas such as the cheekbones and temples are the most common choice. See our dermal fillers overview and the options for each area on our facial filler page.
  • Liquid facelift: Planned filler treatment at several support points of the face gives a lifted look without surgery. See liquid facelift.
  • Thread lifts: Where filler alone is not enough for sagging, a French thread lift can reposition the tissues upward.
  • Botox: Used to soften expression lines on the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes, and to slim the lower face. See the treatment areas on our Botox page.
  • Skin quality treatments: Youth injections, mesotherapy and collagen-stimulating treatments support hydration, firmness and glow.

For some faces, a single filler session may make a visible difference. In others, filler alone is not enough and the plan is supported with other non-surgical facelift treatments.

Why Is Every Facial Architecture Plan Personal?

Every area of the face is connected. The height of the cheekbones affects how the nose fits the face, and widening the face without considering its length can upset its proportions. That is why the same procedure is never applied the same way to two faces.

Some people come in asking for lip filler, but if their facial proportions are not suited to it, it is not recommended, because lip filler can then look like a separate piece sitting in front of the face. The imbalance is addressed first, and the person’s wish is then planned in a way that fits that balance.

The goal of Facial Architecture is not to make anyone look like someone else, but to bring out the most balanced and dynamic version of their own face. The approach is applied by Dr. Sevgi Ekiyor through planning grounded in facial anatomy.

What is the difference between Facial Architecture and filler?

Filler is one of the tools used within Facial Architecture. Facial Architecture is the analysis and planning approach that decides which area is treated, with which product, in what order and how much.

No. It uses non-surgical medical aesthetic methods such as fillers, Botox, thread lifts and skin quality treatments. If a concern needs surgery, you are told.

A natural look is the core aim of the planning. Because treatment is measured to the proportions of the face and your own expression is preserved, the result tends to read as rested and balanced rather than “done.”

It depends on your face. Sometimes one session is enough; other plans combine treatments over a few weeks. The order and timing are decided after the analysis.

It suits women and men who notice volume loss, sagging, asymmetry or a tired expression and want a natural result with non-surgical methods. Whether it is right for you, and which treatments the plan includes, is decided through the facial analysis at your consultation.
